The purpose of Integrated Logistics Support at Harris has always been to define the equipment customers require support for and to provide that support. Logistic Specialists, in conjunction with the rest of the Customer Support Department, design this support by focusing on the requirements of the equipment and its expected use by the customer. The result of this effort provides the end user with the appropriate repair parts, tools, support equipment, technical manuals and training, as well as field and product service to maintain the equipment for its expected lifecycle and beyond.
The following technical disciplines ensure the customer and equipment needs are met:
Maintenance Planning Develop a maintenance concept to support the equipment and plan the detailed maintenance actions necessary for that support. These requirements drive the decisions concerning the resources necessary to support the maintenance actions, including Tools and Test Equipment (TTEL).
Supply Support Identify the materials necessary to fully support the operation and maintenance of the equipment. Items developed from this discipline are the Ready Spare Kit (RSK), Site Spares Kit (SSK), Hardware Spares Kit (HSK), Consumable Bulk Item Kit (CBK), and Recommended Spare Part Lists (RSPL). Other services provided from this discipline are Provisioning, Codification, Nomenclature Assignment, and Military Nameplate Design.
Training Determine the level of training necessary to satisfy each customer's specific needs.
Technical Documentation Ensure documentation is current and properly reflects all the actions required for system/equipment operation and maintenance.
To be successful, it is necessary to implement these disciplines at the appropriate time with relation to equipment development and customer need.
